How Often Does A Commercial Pool Need To Be Cleaned?

Keeping the pool clean in a commercial property is far more critical than a backyard spa or pool. A usable and clean commercial pool helps to create a public perspective that the business establishment cares for everyone’s health and safety. Just as important as the hygienic responsibility of providing a clean pool, there are ethical considerations to keeping the water healthy and safe to use.

Maintaining commercial pool maintenance is really a daily activity. While it is important to have the pool professionally clean at least once a week, the water surface needs to be skimmed and the filters checked every day. Because there is no special licensing required to keep the pool safe and properly maintained, any member of the staff, or maintenance crew, can perform the daily procedures. Based on the time of year, weather conditions, and pool activity, it should be cleaned at least once daily, and possibly twice during heavy use.

REMOVING DEBRIS

It is important that every member of the staff pick up loose debris in the water using the telescopic (long handled) leaf skimmer or rake at least once every day. This maximizes the pool system’s ability to circulate the water through the filtering system without clogging the top filters.

ACCUMULATED DIRT

A professional pool cleaning service can remove any dirt that has settled to the pool’s bottom. Oftentimes they will use a heavy-duty brush or vacuum to either suck up the accumulated dirt, or push it toward one of the bottom intake valves to pull it through the filter.

In addition, the professional pool cleaner will scrub along the bottom and the sides. This removes any calcium deposit, scum line or algae build up. Typically, a hard brush is used on the pool bottom and side surfaces, and a softer brush is used on the fiberglass or tile decorative lining along the edge of the pool.

THE COLLECTION BASKETS

It is important that every collection basket be thoroughly cleaned out each day. It does not take long to accumulate trash, leaves, and other debris or items that have become lodged in the filter basket. Cleaning it out will help improve the water circulation system to ensure it is operating properly.

MINERAL DEPOSITS

Under certain water conditions, commercial pools can accumulate heavy mineral deposits and stains that will need to be removed by professionals using cleaning solutions including muriatic acid.

The commercial pool needs to be cleaned on a routine basis by both members of the staff, and professional cleaners.
